I would like to thank all those who participated in the Rules-modernisation Test Events on the 13th September (Men) and 26th September (Ladies). I would like to thank those who took the trouble to complete the feedback forms to record their opinions on the proposed new rules. These will all be forwarded to the R&A who had urged clubs to test the rule changes in order to gain constructive feedback before their introduction in 2019.
I would like to think that Beaverstown is the first club in Ireland to respond to the R&A request in organising such a trial and I will let you know what their response is to our feedback. I also hope to organise a bit of publicity for the Club with the Irish Independent golf supplement, providing them with “copy” and with photos I took on both days.
If any member participated and overlooked to fill in the form, you may e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org with comments on:
- Dropping the ball from any height
- Putting with the flag-stick in the hole
- Repairing spike marks on your line
- Removing any loose impediments from a bunker
- Removing any loose impediments from a water hazard
- Grounding your club in a water hazard
- Having all water hazards as RED
These will also be forwarded to the R&A.
For those interested, full details of all the proposed changes are to be found on http://www.rules.golf/.
BTW! These new rules are for 2019, not for this weekend!
